Step-by-step training

From your first moment in the sky to a professional pilot — the complete training curriculum and pricing at Jonathan Paragliding.

Jonathan Paragliding School's pilot training is carried out step by step, from the basic training course (Pro1) to the professional pilot course (Pro5) and the two-seat pilot course. Each course consists of theory and practical training and is held at the Pyeongchang Happy 700 Glide Center.

Basic practice course (Pro1)

  • Target audience: Anyone aged 14 or older (parental consent required for minors)
  • Period: 2 days (expiration 1 month) · Training fee 490,000 won
  • Details of education expenses: Includes lecture fees, equipment rental, textbook fees, transportation costs from landing site to takeoff site (30,000 won for National Life Sports Safety Deduction subscription fee, separate meals) · Issuance of training certificate

In this course, you experience a two-seater flight with an instructor and receive a certificate of completion after three two-seater (self-piloted) flights in an area with an altitude difference of more than 450m according to the training plan.

Basic theory education

  • Laws (Association/Pilot)
  • Meteorology (atmosphere, wind)
  • Equipment (aircraft, harness, parachute)
  • Aerodynamics (mechanical forces/air flow)
  • Aircraft skills (preparation, departure, approach and landing)

Basic practical training

  • Flat ground training: equipment naming, handling, assembly, disassembly, canopy raising, running, steering, and landing practice
  • Preparation for departure, repeat pre-takeoff inspection and five departure inspections
  • Simulation: Turning up to 90 degrees, rotational flight using weight transfer
  • Two-seater flight (self-piloted) 450m 3 times: 90-degree turn, 45-degree S-turn, landing toward target, video analysis, U-shaped approach

Trainee Pilot Course (Pro2)

  • Target: Pro1 graduates
  • Period: 2 months (3 months expiration) · Training fee 900,000 won
  • Training fee details: training fee, training confirmation, bring your own aircraft (separate safety deduction subscription fee, transportation fee, and meals)
  • Additional costs: Aircraft rental (20,000 won per time), transportation expenses (15,000 won per time), meals, safety deduction subscription fee, certification test/issuance fee

Practice flying with an instructor and prepare for certification to fly in areas with altitude differences of more than 400m. After completing 20 recorded flights, you will be evaluated for your learner pilot certification.

Pilot course (Pro3·Pro4)

  • Target: Pro2 certificate holders · Bring personal aircraft
  • Period: 6 months each · Training fee 1,200,000 won each
  • Contents: 80 recorded flights (GPS records for Pro4 - including 10 altitude gains over 300m). Eligibility for free flight except long distance (X-C)

Professional Pilot Course (Pro5)

  • Target: Pro4 certificate holders · Private aircraft required (GPS rental available)
  • Period: 1 year · Training fee 1,500,000 won
  • Contents: 80 recorded flights (including 20 over 15 km). With long-distance flight qualifications, you can participate in various domestic and international competitions.

2-seater pilot course

  • Target: Pro3 certificate or higher (certificate is issued to Pro5 holders) · Private aircraft required
  • Period: 1 month · Training fee 5,000,000 won
  • Contents: Legal theory, flight equipment/technology education, occupant protection education, landing practical training
