The Meaning of Jonathan
Jonathan is named after Jonathan Livingston, the hero of Richard Bach's novel "Jonathan Livingston Seagull." Like the seagull that finds meaning in flight itself rather than in the everyday concerns of food and clothing, Jonathan pursues the dream of flying higher and more freely.
The must-read for the Jonathan family is, of course, "Jonathan Livingston Seagull."
The Meaning of the Emblem
Blue — Safety
Safety is the most important thing. Challenge and adventure matter, but Jonathan always puts safety first — it is our duty to family, society and country.
Form — A stylized paraglider.
Red — Challenge & Youth
Symbolizes the challenge toward dreams and ideals, youth, spirit and indomitable will. Youth is of the mind, not the body, embodying the hearts of all who turn dreams into reality.
Form — A seagull's wing beating powerfully forward.
Black — Spirit & Mind
Not reckless challenge, but a love of nature that becomes one with it, and a pure spirit that overcomes any adversity.
Form — The 'J' depicts a person seated in a harness.
